Anti Aging

Why do people age? One of the theories is based on research is the Free-Radical Theory. Free Radicals are generated both internally and externally through our normal metabolism and outside environments. “Free radical” is the term used to describe the molecules differs from conventional molecules in that it possesses a free electron. It’s a property that makes it react with other molecules in highly volatile and destructive ways.

Another way to look at free radical is toxin. Toxin attacks the structure of our cell membrane, creates metabolic waste. The accumulation of the waste will result in the darkening of skin, which is also known as age spot. Toxin also disturbs DNA and RNA synthesis, interfere with the synthesis of protein, thus it lower the energy level and destroy cellular enzymes, which are needed for vital chemical processes. The “free radical” attack continues since we were born until death. However, it affects us much less when we were young because the bodies can repair and replace itself rapidly. With age, however, the accumulated effects of free-radical damage begin to take their toll. Free-Radical disruption of cell metabolism is part of what ages our cells. It may also create mutant cells, leading ultimately to cancer and death.

Another way to look at free radical damaging is to think it as oxidation. For example, the apple rots and metal rusts Human bodies are also slowly oxidized by the very oxygen we breathe in. Hence the substance that prevents the damage of oxygen is called antioxidants. Natural Antioxidants are Vitamin C, Vitamin E and a specialized type called Oligomeric proanthocyanidim complexes (OPC) occurs. Its power is 20 times stronger than Vitamin C and 50 times stronger than Vitamin E.

In Chinese Medicine, people are born with kidney essence. Kidney essence is the original Qi (energy) that provides us vigor and youth. The amount of Kidney essence is fixed and consumed throughout our lives. As a person pass over 40, the estimated amount of Kidney essence becomes less than half. That’s when people start to feel fatigue, slow, weak and “aging”. Eating properly, relaxation, exercise and sleep and will help recovering Kidney essence. In contrast, inadequate lifestyle results in rapid loss of it. With the help of acupuncture and Chinese herbal supplement, we can reduce stress, boost the energy and minimize the loss of our kidney essence. Treatment includes acupuncture and herbal supplements.
